Revised - What I've been up to lately...and How yoou dooing?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Mars,
As for myself, the year is going out in the glory of God, just like it came in! I celebrated a "half a century", like my late mother use to say when she turned 50. Whew! after all I've been through, I made it this far. Thank you God!
Christmas was quiet, made my French toast and bacon and boy was it delicious. I spent lots of money, but not on presents, just had that spending spirit come upon me. Some of you will be honest enough to testify, oh yes! To God be the glory, all my spending was hard earned cash, no credit cards for this delivered sistah, lol. The Lord delivered me from that spirit some years ago. If cash and carry is not excepted then I don't participate.
I've been studying the Gospel of Mark online, so far so good. Oh and I've been finding and doing some great lessons on YouVersion bible app too. See this is what I use my cell phone for; to stay on top of my word and listen to my gospel music, when the world around me be trying to drag a sistah off...
I am growing more with each knew day, being saved under the blood of Jesus some 30+ years. Hallelujah! Like a tree planted by the river; being tossed and turned but yet I stand firm, planted and unharmed, amen.
If anyone is interested, the latest lesson plan called, Heaven's In Your Routines. It's a 5 day study from
Psalm 19, along with other bible references. Please read the entire chapter since the lesson only depicts specific verses. I also, listen audibly and write notes, also available in the app. I find all of these YouVersion lesson plans encouraging, and I know you will too! Their like little snacks I nibble on throughout the day, smile.
Well I just felt like letting you ladies and gents know what I have been up to lately. Until the Lord allows me this opportunity again, have a blessed and prosperous New Year!!!

A true legacy and great humanitarian, Nelson Mandela

Good day Mars,

A man of courage, love and much longsuffering...his life was not in vain.
Just needed to pay homage to one of our greatest civil rights and humanitarian leader .
He lived long and hard, fought the good fight of faith for the least of them, along with others such as Martin and Malcolm; the three M's: mmm good! God makes everything good!!!
Below is a link for his foundation. You could also send your personal condolences. Although a hero has gone on, the need for the people and the call for justice still reigns...http://www.nelsonmandela.org/

Keep Mandela alive through fighting to help those still in need. His legacy moves on and so we tarry for the lost of his family and loved ones...

Blesses,

An Outpouring of Outreaching

Good day Mars,
I know it's been a while since the last time I posted on the latest topic. I was trying to come up with ways to recruit organ donors. Well, it wasn't easy. I only had a month and I really do not like soliciting anybody for nothing. I know crazy right? but I reached beyond myself.
It reminded me of when I worked in the retail industry and we were always told to do our very best to get the customer to purchase merchandise. I never liked doing that, even when I was the consumer, they would ask, "can I help you?" So, this was the feeling that surfaced when I sought to get donors. So, I still moved forward...
Nevertheless, I did use my church as a venue. I set up a table, put some gifts out, along with a box to submit applications for those that were interested. Did I mention, I only received four possible donors, but that was better than none.
My next outreach, for November, was to find some grade school children to make cards for our ailing and injured soldiers. I consider all of these types of outreach, kingdom ministry. Jesus said a lot in Matthew 25, but mostly, "...what you have done for the least of them, you have also done unto me..." So, finding organ donors and children to make cards for the sick and shut-in, is what kingdom ministry is all about.
I asked my teacher could the students in our class make cards and he obliged. The cards were beautiful! Our students, watch videos about veterans and how to help them. They got the opportunity to think of someone other than themselves, this encompassed a writing lesson and creative drawings.
I am grateful to God for those who have been supportive. You know Mars, when life throw lemons at you, just make lemonade. That may sound corny but life is too short to be worried  and crying over how our lives could be more meaningful. You want enrichment and fulfillment, do something for someone other than yourself.

Give life, after all Jesus gave His,
Jerri of Mars

PS-  It has been a very busy two months. More ministry to be accomplished. Who are you seeking to help? Write me about your endeavors.

Give Life...become a donor

Good day Mars,

It's been a long time but I'mss back! I have so much to offer over these next few months too. A couple of bible studies, some prophetic words but my latest quest is seeing how I can convince you and yours to become organ donors. And I only have ONE month. If you already are, then bless you.
For starters, "I'm a Donor"! Became one several years ago. I am not fully prepared to share the story of a dear friend but hopefully within the next week. So stay tuned ok?
In the meantime, if your not already an organ donor please take some time to research cases, find out the importance(remember knowledge is power), weigh your odds, do some soul searching and become apart of my team for the month of October, team Give Life. After all, Jesus gave His life for us, what more can we do for others...
donatelife.net If this link refuses to work, don't give up Google, the links name. See you next week, just got the approval from my dear friend regarding her incredible son. Until next time...pray about it!

Being Amazed

Good day Mars,
As we move forward in our walk with Christ we can take a few lessons from one of our forefathers', Moses, a friend of God. He calls us all "friend". (John 15:15) Like Moses, a servant/friend, God revealed himself through a burning bush that would not be consumed. The word teaches us that he didn't look away, but walked closer to see its amazing sight.
Now, I know some of you got it all together, so when God does reveal Himself to you, through an amazing sight, you, like Moses, walk closer to it. And this is good, but their are some of us who look away, run and hide or continue on with our lives like nothing never happened.
However, my prayer is that those who do the latter, will now seek Him a lot closer. Adonai is our source of life as is His word, in all His amazement aka glory. The bible teaches us that when we were afar off, He bought us near.
After all, in faith we read His word and believe it, we should look forward to the word's revelatory  experiences. Remember, Jeremiah 29:11, that the Lord has thoughts for us...So, why do some of us act as though, when He reveals those thoughts there not real?
So, let's go forward in this next phase looking for the amazement He will reveal. Are you ready to be amazed? I know I am.
Father God, in the name of Yeshua, we give you full permission to totally amaze us with all your splendor and glory. Like Moses, we all have some apprehensions but we also fully recognize and receive your thoughts for our lives. So as your perfect love cast out all fear, lets us wait on you so you can reveal your amazing word. We stand in agreement, that your plan is perfect as is every gift and calling from above. Now Holy Spirit enable us to do exceedingly and abundantly, all that we could ever ask or think, according to the power that work in us and Your riches in glory. In Jesus name amen.

Be Amaze,
Jerri of Mars

At the Hands of this world's Injustice

Grace and Peace Mars,

This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad! I say this each day when I speak to my heavenly Father.
jesus wore a hoodie treyvon martin cartoon by nakedpastor david hayward
Jesus = Justice for All
If we get in the Spirit, this would be true, but we must always deal with the reality of this world because the bible says, we are in it but not of it.
On today, Sunday, July 14th, we are to relive yet another day of "how" this world dishes out injustice.
Again, another black mother cries for her son, who was killed at the hands of injustice.
Another black father, however a very good one, who lived in the same home with his son, will not ever again say, "good morning son, what are your plans for today?".
While brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends and yes even foes, sit in mourning, because contrary to belief, not all white people are without deep thought and emotion for Trayvon's injustice. We all sit and wonder why?, again.
Every mother wonders why and how, yes, she thinks on this could of been my son. Lord have mercy on my soul, because Trayvon Martin, IS our son. He just lived in another state and we shared him with his loving parents and God, in our hearts.
But to God be ALL the glory! God will avenge because He said so, and God is not a liar. Jesus will not let Trayvon's mother and father down.
In the words of my dear sistah Yaasmeen, "Trayvon, you did not die in vain, you will be remembered just like the others who were killed by injustice..."

Momma's babyboy
Let' pray and mourn today, yet cry out like women in labor, because I am very sure that Trayvon's  mother will need more tears. She could never cry enough, her son will never come home from the store again...

God will comfort The Martins',

Works in Faith...the quality of it

What's up Mars, (this looks like a lot to read but please do so; its a blessing)

I know its been a long time, but truthfully I've been growing weary in my well doing. I was just praying to the Lord that I need to be constantly surrounded with encouraging and nurturing saints. The world is busy producing birthing pains, ladies. Are we Ready?! He's coming back!)
So, I'm having this spiritually enlightened conversation with my dear sistah Chrissy. She was so excited about the word of the Lord that was given to her and with much confirmation(actually ten people). I have not had that kind of experience in a while. If I'm by myself and honest enough to confess it, that's good. However, we do and will grow weary in our well doing if we faint not, and we do that too.
Yes, we wake up with the grace and mercy of Jesus each day. We pray, read, meditate, listen to Christian music/preachers, be kind, thankful and loving to our neighbors...the list goes on, but when? was the last time you truly had wisdom and revelation added to the purpose and plan God has spoken over your life? No, I am not talking about the ministry your church has you fulfilling which is good. I'm talking about finding yourself in a situation or place where you know it had nothing to do with nobody but the Lord.
To make it plain...you meet with your church ministry. You all sit down, go through the itinerary and minutes; you come up with a service or devise a plan to raise money right? (Because ultimately that's the goal. Will people and saints be blessed, yes, but it all boils down to just us again.)All this is wonderful, but its all planned out, by who? us. Also, I know that our meetings and plans come from God too, but then transparency takes over. Sometimes it just needs to be God and I or you in your case.
Now, before you get all upset beloveth, picture no ministry meeting, no itinerary and no monies to be raised, then what? This causes you to think, right? But you've done enough of that...but don't think, don't do nothing. Find your secret closet, and wait on the Lord.(It's labor time, saints. So, wait and then push) Now your in expectation for God to say something, make a move in You! That's divine destiny and intervention. All of a sudden you find yourself treading uncharted land. People are just coming out of nowhere with a word, a need, and resources, like with Chrissy. And because God the Holy Spirit has given you wisdom and revelation you now know what to do and where to go. The people there don't even look like you, nor do they speak like you.  And they shouldn't because its no longer just us.   Divine intervention crosses color lines, socioeconomic boundaries, etc...
This has absolutely nothing to do with the church board, auxiliary or ministry, but you can now go back and ask them to support. God's divine intervention helps not just our church but specifically the Kingdom, and it takes the entire body, in and out of the churches four walls. It's nobody but the hand of the Lord!
This is what I am seeking after, and I've been there before, but I then ask myself, "Am I really going to avail myself this time?" To be patient and honestly wait for the Lord to speak, not man or my ego, but really hear what the Spirit is saying, because He has much to say.
Are we being still enough or still being busy just for the sake of being busy. To be seen and heard, look at me, look at me, I'm working for the Lord! In reality your really exhausted, and running on fumes. The word teaches us to be willing vessels...with continual refreshing and filling of His Spirit(Ephesians 5:18/Acts 13:52 NASB). We're a wonderful work in progress, being processed, to be poured out like a drink offering and refilled again.
If you've had this type of intervention, or seeking after it, please share your works of faith in our comment section. Nobody wants to grow weary and were sure not going to faint, remember the flesh is weak but the Spirit is willing. In your free time, read I Corinthians 3:1-23 lifting up from v10-13, its about the "quality" of our works in faith, not quantity. Let's be still and KNOW that He is GOD!

An Ethiopian Princess in Israel

Good day Mars,
Yityish Titi Aynaw is this beautiful black princess who's now crowned Miss Israel 2013. A native of Ethiopia, orphaned, and raised by her single grandmother has never stifled her dreams. Served in the military and has been an admirer of Barack Obama long before his presidency. All aaccomplished by age 21. Yityish along with our President were honorary guest to the state dinner in Israel. She declared him, "an world-class hunk". For the record, this is our President's very first visit to Israel since he's been elected in 2008.

I pray you find time to watch her video which is just a snippet of her journey and/or read the full article in the link below.

Jibrii the Journalist

Hey Mars,

I'm a proud mother of a wonderful son which you all know to be, Jibrii. He is pursuing a career in entertainment via acting, broadcasting, and modeling. As a hobby, you can find him traveling the states seeking out Cosplay Conventions. For the novice, a Cosplayer is a person who designs costumes and models specific characters. Jibrii's characters are primarily of black descent and/or Marvel Comics, such as Bruce Leeroy, Deadpool, Taskmaster and the latest Moon Knight.

Jibrii as Moon Knight
I have the pleasure of assisting with making costumes for these characters. It is costly, between purchasing the types of materials, designing, detailing, late night sewing (Jibrii's does this well) also traveling with hotel accommodations. Nevertheless, he gets to travel to various major cities. His latest travels has journeyed him to Washington, DC. He also appeared on Cake Boss in February as Deadpool, for a private NYC, rooftop, Marvel Comic 50th birthday celebration with the inventors.
Through hard work and dedication, Jibrii has also embarked upon writing reviews for video games with a company called Nerd Caliber out of Boston. This has and is establishing him as a freelance Journalist. Watch his first interview video from Washington DC. As mentioned earlier, next month he will be working strictly in this capacity of freelance Journalist at his very first PAX Video Game Convention in Boston.

We're so proud of him and we ask your prayers for traveling mercies, future paid assignments and that God be glorified. The Holy Spirit told me to call Jibrii, Prince, some years ago, said he will prevail for God and man. I believe God, because this was a child who had a speech impediment as he entered preschool. Never give up on God because He won't give up on You! He's able...

Ears to Hear...Update

OMGosh Mars,

Nobody told me the link didn't work, from the last blog or you just did not care to click on, but I am doing what thus saith the Lord to give you this lesson. You are aware that over half of Jesus confessing and believing Christians, are not reading the bible daily. We can all attest that in the beginning, reading the word can be hard, but just listening to the pastors version, on Sunday, is never enough. We must "study" the word to show our own selves approved, rightly divide it, so we won't be ashamed. All this means is that you won't be caught out there repeating and living by false teachings and preachings. Reading the word of God will heighten your discernment aka having the ability to tell good from evil. Even the devil can shine like an angel of light being said that everyone who stands in the pulpit aren't always of God. They know the word and can exegete it: a critical explication or interpretating of Scripture. But the truth is not in them; Jesus will say, "I don't know you..."
The enemy is subtle! Please, get into the word of God, hold fast to it and apply it to your life. Live by it! So prayerfully, you will be obedient and at least look this powerful study over. Get started today! I love you.

Next, these two links are about children and how their brain develops. So, maybe just maybe, you are more interested in the proper growth of your children's brain and why they act out. This man is not just a doctor but a christian. I'm praying Mars...no more lack of knowledge = no more suffering.

Ears to Hear...

Dear Mars,

I write today to take you back...back to a time when you first met the Lord Jesus Christ. No, not when you first joined the church, the choir or any other ministry. But when you were inadequate, feeling out of place, perhaps unsure if you want to even walk down that church aisle to give you life to the Lord. Now go a step further, when you first decided to seriously consider what to wear to church. Ponder on how you felt when you thought about picking up the bible; 'what is it talking about you said, it doesn't make sense.'
You were as a new born baby, unable to drink milk without choking. You needed so much help, having to learn all over again. In this dispensation of time, most of us have come very far and wholeheartedly decided, we are not going back. Regardless, of how awkward our journey has been, we are now comfortable and safe in His arms. The man we grew to fall in love with, Jesus!
But how far have we come? So far, that we feel a sense of arrival or even better, complacent. I will be the first to admit, that yes, I still have areas that need His undivided attention. I've been on this journey since 1981 and I have done of it all, so it appears. But there still that deep intuition that calls from the deep, saying, 'no Jerri, you need to go further...keep moving on. And in doing so, don't forget your first love.' Like the church of Ephesus, who was very pleasing to the Lord, but was unaccountable to one thing, they forgot their first love.
What was it? We could never forget Jesus, after all we wake up each day to Him in prayer and meditation. We read His word, give encouraging words, fast, humble ourselves, avoid our former ways, all so that He may be glorified. I found to believe that our first love wants us to never forget, how it all started and how we felt...fear and trembling...working out our salvation. We've gotten or can get so courageous and lofty because we come so far on the journey and we "think" or "feel" we "know Him".
Enough said, in your spare time because you have soooo much to do. Get back to the basics, as if your not the Pastor, president of an auxiliary, your not even a proclaimed prophet or deacon. You are just YOU! Jesus' beloved. Still unsure, unpopular, awkward...because like walking down that church aisle, you want to feel that uncharted ground under your feet. Because you don't know it all and perhaps did some things wrong, but still how loved are you by the Lord. Never get too comfortable because you don't know Him still. He tells us in Isaiah 55:8..."my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways...
He who has an ear to hear....click on this link and just read www.eartohear.net/kingdom/know.html
I found this site to be a very word worthy lesson, to bring us back to the basics of our first love. We can never study enough, so just read it. Don't dissect it, with pen and paper because you already know it. It's all word. Take your time, read it over a period of days, don't rush. Let this study be a refresher, let the Holy Spirit revive you. Watch how rejuvenated you'll feel, where all your hopes and fears will once again, be gone, just from reading His word and knowing Him even more. Paul said, "I pray, so that will know Him more..."

Getting your (house) in order, the money is there...

Happy Snow day Mars,

I don't know about you but I only like fresh falling snow, so I took a walk at 7:30am to make my own tracks. As I was walking, sun wasn't bright as yet, a pigeon was sitting in the snow. As I walked pass him or her, it stayed on one side, but soon as I got two steps ahead, two of them tried to attack my head. I screamed while trying to run through the 12 inches snow. All I can attest to, is that running in the snow is a very good cardio workout.
In my continuance, I'd like to share some other new endeavors for this year. The real estate market took a bad nose dive over these pass years while taking most "new" home owners with them. Well, now that the advocates have stood firmly on "who" was really at fault, we've found that  roosters still come home to crow. Yes, the large corporate bankers! have to give back monies to the unfortunate lost home owners. Click and read the following link:

http://www.forbes.com/sites/halahtouryalai/2011/04/13/banks-settle-will-pay-back-homeowners-for-faulty-foreclosures/

This is good news, if you haven't given up, but if you know somebody who has, share this with them. Talking about the wages of the wicked...It was prophesied, that this is the year of reaping, but only if you've sowed. So! lets continue if not began too, sow!
I'm tired of paying high rent and while filing for bankruptcy several years ago, two things happen, my  percentage rate lowered on my loans and my credit score reached a standard. And while I'm still not clocking major dollars, I am eligible for other perks. I give God the glory, because He has made it possible for me, through good discipline, to make sure all my bills are paid especially my student loan, on time.
So, if you have been working on getting your house in order, financially, as we were encouraged some time ago. Then go to these sites for further assistance on home ownership assistance:

http://housingactioncouncil.org/

 http://www.chigrants.org/

http://homes.westchestergov.com/homeseeker-opportunities

Hope this is helpful. I already signed up for interviews/workshops on receiving financial assistance for down payment, closing costs and/or renovations if needed. Please, please pass this on to any of our Hispanic brothahs and sistahs because the monies are definitely there for them. If you have some Hispanic blood please claim it and don't hesitate to avail that information, again the monies are there. Keep us updated...as we keep you in prayer.

We celebrate You! Janet and Ray Rice, New Ro's finest

Good day Mars,

Well, I don't know what most of you indulged yourselves in on Sunday, but the rest of us right here in New Rochelle, were knee deep in Super Bowl Sunday XVLII , hotwings and all. You know why? Because that's what we do to assist in celebrating our own. Yes, New Rochelle's finest, Ray Rice! Baltimore Ravens (Rayvens, get it?) 55th draft pick. This young man has been running all of his life; and not to just catch footballs. Nah, he's been in flight from the womb.
Not knowing that his father would be fatally taken from him and his mother at such a tender age of one. All he desired was, "a walk in the park", with his dear father. But God had a bigger plan for Ray Rice. Let the record be known, that this young man comes from a praying family. So, in our hearts, Super Bowl XVLII, was God's way of saying good job Ray for staying on the path that I have prepared for you.
His mother Janet Rice, New Rochelle born and raised, from back in the day and lifelong friend, is a real sistah. She represents Mars to the fullest (watch the video). Raising two others sons, besides Ray and a little girl, with the same fervent, tenacity, and love. She's one of us! I can proudly say that most of the sistahs who grew up in our era, have exceptional children. No drugs, jails, nor drop-outs, etc...the list goes on. Some will say, its in the water but Janet and the rest of us say, "to God be the glory!"
Although, there were many of us who were 49er fans, as well as other teams, but you had to feel what the Lord was stirring up. Some like myself aren't Ravens fans were Ray Rice fans! Now the devil tried the whole power issue; lights out thing, but he still was defeated. I know Pastor Niscey was praying and bleeding the blood of Jesus (that's Ray's aunt). We felt it! I ran into some bitter folk, at least that's what I called them. They were talking about not jumping on bandwagons and they could care less, until its there child, right? However, you always gonna have haters, workers of iniquity like black outs but God has the last word. And if you don't know, you better ask somebody!!
This is what Mars is all about, supporting our own. Be it our accomplishments, or our children's, we give credit where its due. And Janet and Ray deserves our love, adoration, participation, prayers and support. This one's for you JR!

When Love calls...you better answer

Good day Mars,

I pray what we have declared to start new or do differently this year is still sought out in fervent determination. That being with God as our captain while were yet learning how to be mere shipmates. This brings me to my recent endeavor, a book entitled, Celebration of Discipline: The Path to Spiritual Growth.
This all started with me having a bump in the road last weekend. Somebody, pardon the expression, "pissed my off" and I came home and cried to the Lord. This was all building up towards my feelings of insignificance and irrelevant. My walk with Christ through prayer, studying, and meditation is going well, but I'm still dealing with the issues of "church as usual".
We need to start calling church by a name that is more prevalent, and that is, "The body"! Notice how I casually left out " of Christ"? Because the body is sick but Christ is not. Yea, yea I know were all processing and progressing, but some of us been at this way far too long and everybody can just say, "Amen"!
However, that's for another time of preaching. So as always, when I cry out to my heavenly Father, He never seems to let me down. He answers! I needed a word, a reviving, a touch and just a little more attention from Jesus. So, when I got to church on Sunday, while I usually leave directly after service, I stayed; I decided some time ago that I was going to the Leadership class and baby, what a time, what a time.
You need to click on the link below to look over and be certain to purchase this new book, atleast new to me. This book is just what God has answered/ordered just for me! He heard my cry...What did the Lord tell the church of Ephesus? While He was very pleased with them, He declared they forgot their "first love"; Revelations 2:4-5.  Well, this book will take you back to just that, your first love, The Master of Love aka Jehovah. So, put it on your list of books to read. I pray your reading more Mars, especially the bible.
Okay, get back to doing whatever you was doing. I thank you for taking out time to hear what lil ole me have to say, until next time...

Be A Gamer All The Time (an article for him)

Good day Mars,

Once again, I had to have a hard discussion with my ONO (one and only), my son, my prince, my lovable and fantastic man of God, whew! What can I say, he's the best part of me and his dad. So, I'm talking to him, some hard suggestions, advice, likes and dislikes and he listened for the most part.
We spoke on this topic in the past, but when raising boys to men, after a while we, as mothers, can sound a lot like the teacher on Charlie Brown: wa wa womp wom...
but when God has His stamp of approval He will send a "man" to reiterate that same dissertation. Now our son is listening. This happened twice in the last week. I was talking to my son about telling the truth because a liar will never be successful in life. They will be found out! So, we go to church and our Pastor was preaching on this same topic. I think, my son, got it! After all, the same topic came from a man. To God be the glory.
Now, if anybody knows my son, they will attest that he's a gamer. No, thank God, he doesn't play as much as he use to but he can "go in" from time to time. You know all male species have their "Dungeons or Man caves". So, I'm expressing my thoughts to him about his passions, setting realistic and obtainable goals, etc...Long story short, a while after, I come across this article on our computer about a company that is considering my son to become a Freelance Gamer. He will get many perks along with exposure and its a very good career start. He will get paid ya'll! Talking about pursuing his passions. My point is this, he's an active participant of this company, that had an article on exactly what I was expressing, but in "man's term". This was nobody but God again.
So, Mars when you feel communicating to your son is and will become harder and harder, look to the hills from which comes your help, it comes from God...Support his passions and celebrate his efforts, their men and we know they "need" validation, yes especially for the little things. Leave no stone unturned, he's yours and ain't nobody gonna put up with his short-comings like dear ole mom. Put it plainly, God has and will always look beyond all of our faults and provide our needs. As long as we put our trust in Him, who is able to keep us from falling, AND present us "faultless" before His throne...Hallelujah!
If you know of or have a son that seems to play games a little too much, show him this article. It's from a reputable game site, where not just men but gamers speak the same language because you, momma, just might not be heard or listened too. It's a Man to man thang!

You are not alone....
